What Is MOC (Microsoft Official Curriculum)?

MOC (Microsoft Official Curriculum) refers to the official instructor-led training courseware for Microsoft certifications and technologies. It includes the training manuals, instructor content, lab exercises, slide decks, and guidance that authorized trainers use to deliver formal classroom training.

Key points:

• MOC is licensed content intended for use in formal instructor-led training environments — not public redistribution.
• MCTs can download instructor materials from the Learning Download Center for their own preparation.
• Only Authorized Learning Partners (training providers registered with Microsoft) can buy and distribute MOC materials to students for classroom delivery.

2. What Is XtremeLabs?

XtremeLabs is an Advanced Lab Hosting Provider (Authorized Lab Hoster – ALH) that provides virtual hands-on lab environments for MOC courses. These labs simulate real Microsoft product environments so learners can practice tasks from the MOC hands-on labs during training.

What XtremeLabs offers:

• Guided, interactive lab environments tied to official MOC exercises.
• Tools for instructors to monitor and support students during hands-on activities.
• A library of labs for many Microsoft technologies.

3. Using MOC & Labs as an MCT

3.1 Accessing MOC Materials (Trainer Prep)

As an MCT it gives:

• Access to MOC from the Learning Download Center after logging into MCT Central/Microsoft Learn — this includes instructor presentation decks and lab guides for course prep.
• Use MOC content to prepare for your classroom delivery.

Important: Its recommended not to distribute downloadable MOC instructor manuals to your classroom delegates unless your training organization is a Microsoft authorized Learning Partner. Else you should personalise it for your sessions.

3.2 Using XtremeLabs for Instructor Readiness

MCTs get free lab access for trainer readiness via XtremeLabs as part of MCT benefits:

• Use the same Microsoft credentials tied to your MCT profile to log in.
• This access is primarily for preparing yourself before delivering training, not for classroom distribution.

Steps to use XtremeLabs for prep:

1. Navigate to the MCT Readiness portal and sign in using the email associated with your MCT.
2. Validate your MCT status so you can see available labs.
3. Choose labs aligned to the MOC you’ll deliver and complete them in advance to build confidence and understanding.

3.3 Labs for Classroom Students

Important distinction:

• The free MCT lab benefit does not grant you entitlements to give lab access to students.
• If you need hands-on labs for classroom delegates, those must be purchased by your Learning Partner (authorized Microsoft partner) from an ALH such as XtremeLabs.

In practice:

• Students receive lab access codes purchased by the training partner for the specific MOC they’re attending.
• MCTs cannot directly use their personal MCT lab benefit to give students access.

Best Practices for MCTs When Using MOC + Labs

Before Classroom:

Review the full MOC content thoroughly.
Run through the associated hands-on labs in XtremeLabs multiple times.
Prepare your own demo environment where possible — this gives deeper flexibility beyond guided labs.

In the Classroom:

When training with labs:

• Ensure the training organizer has arranged lab access for students through an ALH.
• Use XtremeLabs tools (if chosen) to monitor student progress and help troubleshoot.

If students don’t have lab access:

Feel free to utilize your demo tenant or scripts for live demonstrations—these are allowed and can be restyled as needed.
